Black Women Feminists (Tola Ijalusi)

You’ve been begat, infused and convinced of you

Struggling against race, sex and power

Interlocked in the oppression of conditional living

Inherited from your mothers and sisters militancy sacrifices

Who countless consistently coined the politics.

You’ve evolved from your intimate experiences

Discern in your daily reality

Griping your patriarchal rule, sexual oppression as factors.

You’ve painstakingly built bridge to close gaps,

Close oppression and change lives

Via growth of mindful realization.

You’ve applied paraphernalia gained from

Education for adeptness in your fight.

You’ve sprang up for value

As to freedom and autonomy

Which you worked consistently to gain,

Identifying yourself to end oppression.

You’ve received negative criticism from

Men in societies, no support – no action.

You’ve expressed self definitions of

Reliance and independence,

Not sited with folded arms but spirit possessed

In valour, confidence, impervious…

You’ve stab responsibly making knowledge, virtue and love

Reside in children with morality

Having education as bedrock of power.

You’ve suppressed enough

As object of other room

As kitchen mistress.

You’ve fought your way to power

Yet excluded from the combat.

Oh Black Women Feminists

You’ve come a long way

Advocating your emancipation and liberation.
